About me

I am a French-native speaker from Belgium. I took a four-year degree in translation at the Ecole d'Interprètes Internationaux (E.I.I.), an interpretation and translation institute at the University of Mons-Hainaut (Belgium).

Education

In 1994 I got my secondary school diploma at the Athénée Royal, Dour (Belgium); major subjects were modern languages (English, Dutch and German).

From August 1994 until July 1995 I was sent as exchange student in Panama, Central America. I spent one year living with a Panamanian family, experiencing the diversity and cultural wealth of an area quite different from Western Europe. I was enrolled as an exchange student at the "Colegio Rodolfo Chiari" in Aguadulce, and actively participated in all classes.

In 1999 I took a four-year degree in translation at the Ecole d'Interprètes Internationaux (E.I.I.), an interpretation and translation institute at the University of Mons-Hainaut (Belgium). I attended professional training courses focused on translation, as well as general courses such as introductory law, history of modern French literature, etc. The four-year degree course involved many language laboratory exercises in translation and interpretation; proofreading activities; general and specialized translation (legal, business, scientific); first-hand translation from French into the foreign language, for a better understanding of the difficulties inherent in each language; oral translation of texts in scientific and business English and business and general Spanish.

Experience

October 2002 - December 2005: Manager of translation and revision department at Ligabue Paola & C. S.a.S., an agency based in Reggio Emilia, Italy. I handled revision of translations in French, Spanish, English, Portuguese, and Dutch. Managed contacts with freelance translators, feedback on translations, customer relations. Also responsible for business relations with many different clients from French, English, and Spanish-speaking countries.
